Turn conversations and recordings into information you can work with

CROSSNote transforms your audio recordings into editable documents, helping you capture conversations, meetings, ideas and spoken notes without having to write everything down.

Transcription is more than converting speech into text. Once your recording has been transcribed, you can organize its content, identify speakers, make corrections, add your own notes and use AI to explore or develop the information further.

The goal is simple: capture what was said, then turn it into something useful.

Automatic transcription and speaker identification

CROSSNote automatically detects the language spoken in your recording, including recordings containing multiple languages.

When several people are speaking, CROSSNote can distinguish their voices and organize the transcription into separate interventions.

Each detected speaker is initially assigned a generic name, such as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2.

You can then:

  • Assign names to speakers and update them throughout the document.

  • Correct speaker assignments when necessary.

  • Add speakers who were not identified automatically.

  • Show or hide speaker differentiation.

  • Review the approximate time associated with each intervention.

When no speaker differentiation is needed, the transcription can be presented as a regular text document.

Speaker identification distinguishes voices within a recording. It does not identify people automatically or recognize them across different recordings.

A document you can freely edit

Your transcription is not a fixed record that you can only read.

You can correct words, expand ideas, remove unnecessary content or reorganize the information according to your needs.

The editor allows you to:

  • Edit the text of individual interventions.

  • Split, combine, add or remove sections.

  • Insert your own text without associating it with a speaker.

  • Organize the document as it evolves beyond the original conversation.

Your changes are saved automatically, so you can return to the document without having to manage manual saving.

The original audio remains separate from the editable text. After substantial editing, the transcription and its timestamps may no longer correspond exactly to the recording.

Work with your transcription using AI

CROSSNote includes an AI assistant that can work directly with the content of your document.

You can use it to:

  • Summary: Generate a structured summary of the recording, highlighting important information, conclusions and relevant next steps.

  • SMART: Turn information into a clearer, actionable objective using the SMART framework.

  • Create Subtasks: Identify actionable items and create subtasks linked to your recording.

  • Ask Questions: Explore the content, clarify specific points or ask the assistant to analyze what was discussed.

Summaries and SMART results become editable sections of your document. You can correct, expand or adapt them just like your own notes.

Questions and conversational answers are displayed differently, preserving the exchange with the assistant. They are not directly editable, but their text can be selected and copied.

This distinction makes it possible to work with the document without confusing its content with the conversation you have had with AI.

A document that can continue evolving

Your transcription can gradually become much more than a record of what was said.

You might begin with a meeting, generate a summary, correct an important detail, add personal observations and later ask the assistant to examine a particular decision.

CROSSNote keeps these elements in the same workspace while distinguishing between editable document content and conversational interactions.

When generating new summaries, previous AI-generated summaries and conversational exchanges are not automatically treated as part of the original transcription. This helps avoid repeatedly summarizing previous AI responses.

Copy and export your information

CROSSNote offers two ways to copy or export your transcription:

  • Document only: Includes the transcription, speaker names, your own notes and editable content generated by the assistant, such as summaries and SMART results.

  • Document and conversation: Includes everything above, together with your questions and the assistant's conversational responses.

You can copy either version to the clipboard or export it as plain text using the iOS sharing options.

Speaker names are preserved as readable labels, without requiring another application to understand CROSSNote's internal document structure.

Keep control of your recordings

Your transcription is associated with its original recording, but the two remain independent.

You can return to your document, continue editing it or retranscribe the original audio if necessary. Retranscribing requires confirmation because it replaces the existing transcription document.

You can also remove the transcription without deleting the original audio or any subtasks already created from it.

CROSSNote is designed to help you move from recording information to understanding, organizing and using it — while keeping the content under your control.
